Accident #1.1: Hawker Beechcraft G58, 1-4-21, Cash Arkansas

NTSB accident number: CEN21LA107

The Beechcraft Baron took off from KJBR (non-towered airport), flew southwest, climbed to approximately 2,300 ft MSL, then started to descend. It turned right, flew for a little longer, before flight tracking was lost. Accident site corresponds with last track.

According to https://www.kait8.com/2021/01/08/names-released-deadly-plane-crash/ The pilot was named as Sean Wesley Stem, 52. An eyewitness stated “I was in the duck woods hunting and there was a, what I thought was a single prop plane, going really low over the trees and it sounded like it was too low and it was really loud,” he said. “Something was wrong with one of the engines. Thirty seconds later, I couldn’t see it anymore I heard it, disappear, and saw black smoke billowing for 10 or 15 minutes.”

Flight was at around 9 am, and in VMC (Visual Meteorological Conditions).

Opinion: Personally I think this is a case of engine failure in the Baron, resulting in a difficult aircraft to handle. What we don’t know is what was the pilot’s health that day, and with a combination of low altitude and an engine failure, we don’t know if it was recoverable or not.
